Tub cleaning

Postby HRHPatey » Mon, 22 Oct 2007 12:50:51 GMT

..... a bit of an odd topic, but I get so happy with this method, that I thought I'd share.

Myself and the Children use lots of lotion, with that and grubby Children, I find that keeping my bathrooms (tubs) clean without scrubbing ridiculously (I am 5ft tall - these baths were not designed to be cleaned with ease) is an endeavor in and of itself!

However, I love the show " How clean is your House?" - I got a tip from Aggie & Kim which is superior to all bath cleaning products...

I simply run hot water and add Tide (with Bleach) powder - let it sit for a wee while - no scrubbing, it's smells super and cleans everything :)

Interesting. Something we do is keep a bath scrubby (body puff) that is used only for shower cleaning. We all squeeze a little shampoo on it while we're bathing ourselves and then scrub the walls and tub and rinse with a cup. It's clean all the time that way and it doesn't seem to matter how well the kids do it. It works no matter what.

That was my original technique  but became ineffective (maybe it does have something to do with all of the lotion and the soap that I use)

I always seamed to have residue and sadly yuck on and around the tub ..... no longer with the Tide deal :)

So all you do is fill the tub and add the soap powder and mix? How much soap?

Hey Bob !!!

I use the Tide bleach, put 1 1/2 scoops (the scoop that comes with the powder) into the bathtub, then I run the hot water tap (usually until it gets about 4 or 5 " deep) I also include the bath mat.

Close the windows so the hot water really steams - let it sit for however long ..... in truth when I do this, I do it first thing, then get back to it about 11ish...

When you let all the water out of the tub, there will be a little residue, but that's a good thing because with a regular cloth it adds a little abrasiveness to it, wipe around, swill off with clean water and it's a done deal - no scrubbing, no elbow grease , just fresh smelling and most importantly CLEAN .....

Dude, are you the tub cleaner or are you messing with me

I bow to you (Seriously!!!!)

Any Man that will clean a bath tub, is OKAY in my book !!!!

- Try this, it really does work - I don't do it any other way anymore - anything that can reduce my scrubbing time is precious to me :)

I have to also say that ( I'm thinking of your utility tub in the shop) if you can get it 'cleanish' then put a little baby oil on kitchen towel, rub it all over the tub, you will find that the grime and yuck will rinse away rather than stick and look yucky ,,,,,

Tips du jour (ha ha )

One last one, if anyone is interested ..

I have an issue with static (we have two chairs that are the micro suede or something like that) when you get up and touch ANYTHING you are shocked (electric ) simply wipe over the chairs with a dryer sheet POOF no more fritzing the cat or babies

I almost died once years ago cleaning a bathroom so it was hard to do it again but I do....in case your wondering I mixed Lime - a - way and a bleach product not knowing that created hydrochloric acid. Cleaned great, also puts you in an oxygen tent in the emergency room to have your lungs cleaned.

I also like using any liquid DISHWASHER detergent in my jetted tub...I run straight hot water, the squeeze in about a half to full cup of detergent. run the jets for 10 15 minutes...sparkling clean!!

See I like to use CLR in mine, as it circulates it clears the lime form the pump works too. I will try the soap powder trick when I get the bathroom put back together, it's getting a new floor right now.

Never thought of that, and we both know how terrible the lime is over here...will give that a whirl next time.

The fact that you actually began a statement with the word 'hark,' blind-sighted me more than the thought of you actually being domesticated:lol:
