Sex act allegations spur investigation ....

Firstly, we are advised that the investigation concerns are over 'sex acts' (per MJ heading) however, Dr. Lolli refers to the behavior as inappropriate... I would (personally) prefer clarification, I think putting a finger up your nose is inappropriate but clearly not sexual or detrimental to other Students (other than a yucky factor!)... big difference.

That said, WCPO reports :

MONROE, Ohio -- Monroe Local Schools will include an adult bus monitor and make sure bus cameras are recording at all times.

The changes come after two children allegedly engaged in some form of sexual contact with each other last Wednesday.

Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli tells 9News that the children were riding home when they were witnessed engaged in inappropriate touching by a third child.

"We haven't gotten a clear indication of the details,” said Lolli. “We just know that something inappropriate happened on the bus."

Lolli tells 9News that both children told different stories about what happened. They each received a three-day suspension from Monroe Primary School where they are students.

In addition to the school suspension, they were suspended from riding the bus for six days.

The two children are back in school and will be permitted to ride the bus on Monday. They will be separated and will ride alone in their seats.

Is this potentially being blown out of proportion? It doesn't appear to be a consistent news report, some media even referring to the Elementary School rather than the Primary School.... Are the 'hearsay' reports actually adding more tension to an issue? Quite possibly yes to both counts. I do not believe that we will hear the story with any accuracy (I'm quite sure of that!) but, I feel that I will take this opportunity to revisit the topic of privacy and appropriate/inappropriate behavior.

~ I must add that I believe the rolling camera's and adult monitor on the buses are a most welcomed addition, not just because of this situation, but an all over good measure to keep buses a safe place for our Children.

From the Middletown Journal:

MONROE — Monroe Local Schools and Butler County Children Services are investigating a report of sexual activity between two Monroe Primary School students on a school bus.
A child admitted to witnessing sexual activity between two other students on the bus, and the child’s parent reported it to the district Thursday, Jan. 21, officials said.
Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli said Jan. 20, three Monroe Primary School students were reportedly sitting in a bus seat and two of them were not in their assigned spots.
“We can’t get a straight story on what actually happened, but there was some inappropriate activity,” Lolli said. “We have a completely different story about it from everyone except the one child who was not involved.”
She said no evidence of bullying has been found, and that is why both students received the same punishment.
Monroe Police Chief Greg Homer said a detective is working with Children Services on the matter.
Lolli said the district is required by law to contact Childrens Services anytime it suspects there could be a situation involving a child or a parent and child that could be deem inappropriate behavior.
The students involved were immediately suspended from school and the bus for one week, Lolli said. They returned to school Wednesday, Jan. 27, and will resume riding the bus Monday, Feb. 1. She said district officials have met with parents who have concerns.
Lolli said the district has put a camera on the bus and— beginning Monday — is placing another adult on it to monitor students. She said half of the district’s busses have cameras, which are rolled periodically depending on situations.
The camera for the bus in question “will be rolled every day now,” Lolli said.
She said Butler County Children Services is investigating the incident. The district also is working with Brett Kahny, school resource officer, and the parents of the children involved.
In addition, the district is taking appropriate action with Petermann, Ltd., the company it contracts with to provide transportation services.
Lolli declined to say whether the bus driver was reprimanded.

What is wrong with kids these days???? Has there been a determination as to which school? The Cincinnati Enquirer reported it was the Elementary but the Middtown Journal was reporting it was the primary.
Sad sad sad
I taught him everything I know and he's still stupid. I don't understand it!!!

I believe the Primary School is the correct one (which is slightly more disturbing  )

Again, I do not believe that we will hear anything more about this, or it will be complete hearsay. As of this Morning, I think both students will be back at School and riding the Bus, however, per Dr. Lolli, the camera's and an adult Bus Monitor will be available also.
