WOW!!! What camera do you use Bob ???

Maybe sounding ignorant, but DH bought me a cybershot - it has all the bells and whistles (for a lay person  ) but I so don't understand most of the settings so put it on automatic .... A couple of times I have researched and utilized some of the other features but am too lazy to use them to my advantage...... any tips????

HRHPatey,
I use a Canon mkIII. It is a 10mp camera but is designed mostly for sports as it does 10fps (frames per second).
I throttle my camera back to 5fps as I don't want to "run and gun" with it.
Lighting is the key in how your camera performs. My advice is to get away from the "auto" setting and start experimenting. Put it on AV, TV or manual mode (not sure how Sony defines it's settings) and start playing around with it.
Sports may not be your thing but there is alot of people into the nature, macro, art, portraiture sides as well.
That's the beauty of digital, you not likey the picture,....delete it at very little cost to you.
If you ever get into the DSLR (digital SLR) world, put your money into the glass/lens, not the camera. These high end lens' really hold their value and I know guys that are using pieces of glass/lens that are 10 yrs. old and gettig simply stellar shots from a 3 yr old camera.
I will tell you this, shooting at night under the lights is an art that only gets better by practice, practice, practice.
It is very challenging IMO.
If you'd like, I can send you a few free photg sites that has a ton of info and you can learn as much or as little as you'd want.
If you ever see me up at the fields in Monroe, give me a shout. I'm the tall dude with a monopod and a "white lens" that I carry on my shoulder.
Thx.
