Too many tough teams in Group C for the Netherlands to do anything...They went 0-1-1 against Romania in qualifying and I don't see them beating them now...I have them picked last, but they could sqeak by France...Even with Italy's captain going down I still think that they will take group C with Romania also advancing to the knockout rounds...

I have Germany beating Italy in the finals of my ESPN fantasy pickem sheet...

Germany vs Poland 2:30 sunday on one of the ESPN channels...

Watch and learn...

I watched the Portugal V's Turkey yesterday - it was a better game than the Switzerland V's Czech Republic (admittedly, I only caught the second half). I am looking forward to Germany today (if I can get to watch it - Family are in town)

ESPN is the station that I've caught these games on and have really enjoyed the camera's - long gone are the days where there are two views

For anyone interested, USA plays Argentina today in the Giants Stadium.

Rut ro ...... as reported by Sky News :

Riot police have been forced to separate Germany and Poland fans as trouble flared ahead of this evening's Euro 2008 grudge match.

Police have stepped up securityAround 100 chanting fans were kept apart in the centre of Klagenfurt, Austria, when glasses were thrown.

Seven Germany supporters were arrested in the trouble.

Security has been stepped up ahead of the Group B clash amid fears World War Two hostilities will resurface and spark violence.

Some 25,000 Germans and 20,000 Poles are expected for the game, descending on the small city of just 90,000 people.

More than 2,300 police, including Polish officers, have been drafted in along with 2,000 private security agents.

Cops are patrolling the streets and have set up road blocks.

Elements of the Polish media have been accused of stoking-up tensions with inflammatory front pages.

Polish fans are still mad that Klose and Podulski (who scored both goals) decided to play for Germany and not Poland where they were born...Fun game...My wife who is of Polish descent lost a bet to me over the game, which made it even sweeter... ...

You are naughty Munkee........

Honestly, I thought the game was a good one - I watched it all ...... I'm on the fence, I would hate to predict (and couldn't even if I tried  ) but I like a good game, let me see skill, team work and determination..... Frankly, I'll use each as an excuse to watch the matches ... maybe I'll come up with a preference in a week or so

Ronaldo can play - his foot work is unbelievable... He can play with either left or right and can header bar none.... tool or not, I like Ronaldo. Portugal as a Team looked pretty good..

I expected this a long time ago...

I admit that I was WAAAYYYY off...Very exciting uptempo play and a heck of a bench...A Germany vs Netherlands final would be very exciting...Could have 7-8 goals scored...First though we have to get by Turkey (who hardly has any players left) and you will have a possible rematch with Italy...If all goes well, maybe we can make a wager...

WOW !!!! I really did not think Spain would do it, but they pulled it off and beat Germany in the final ...

Per Sky Sports :

Spain have beaten Germany in the final of the European Championship with a single goal by Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

Spain's Torres celebrates his goalThe Spaniards ended their 44-year wait for a major international title with a slick passing display in Vienna.

Sky's Europe correspondent Greg Milam in Madrid said: "A good night for Spanish football fans who have endured so much misery over the years.

"The fact their team has been performing so well throughout the tournament... that's why they felt pretty confident."

Torres scored the only goal of the game in the first half as football's perennial underachievers finally banished that unwanted tag to the history books.
It was the first time Spain had won the European title since 1964 and their first final since 1984.

Torres slotted home his 17th international goal on 33 minutes with a moment of sublime quality.

He latched onto a through-ball from team-mate Xavi after outpaced German defender Philipp Lahm and chipped the ball over advancing goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.

Spain remained dangerous and Sergio Ramos later forced Lehmann into a fine block with a powerful header from a Xavi free-kick.

Germany have previously won the tournament three times.
