Woah - hike in cost for electricity!

Postby HRHPatey » Wed, 16 Sep 2009 09:37:24 GMT

We recieved our electricity bill this month and although our over all usage was down (I'm being conciencious  ) the rising cost affected our over all bill total !

We are a Family of 4 and our Home has 3 floors, I cannot imagine the lengths one must go to in order to keep the utilities at a low roar ...as I said, I have been more aware of our usage - Thank goodness or it would have been so much worse!

I know. We keep getting more conservative...and our bill keeps getting higher. :( It's disheartening to watch the graph bar go down and the cost go up!

It is taking up the slack from reduced gas prices to cancel out any monetary family benefits!!! :x It is really going to be bad this winter, especially for us that heat with electricity. Our church bill is out of sight!!!!

I wish Duke had never taken over CG&E but it probably wouldn't have mattered. PUCO is about as protective as the state EPA. My electric bill has more than doubled in the last five years.!!!! :x

Ha ha...

When I lived in Clifton (as a UC student) my parents were giving me loads of crap for not using even billing.

BUT - when their adjustment came along and their bill shot up, I was laughing last.

However, I do like paying for what I use when its due, not later on. It's an interesting decision, you don't really win or lose either way. Lousy power company...

for most of my adult life I've been on even billing...when it was CGE they kept a closer look, and if it was a massive difference they would adjust accordingly so there was no huge balance either way. I have just started this with Duke and it's not been adjusted as of yet. It comes to term next month I believe...will let ya know then if this was a good idea or not.

I still prefer Winter over Summer when talking about bills and usage....... I don't care to be hot (makes me grumpy) but handle the cold very well   During the day I turn the heat off, wear a cardigan or sweater if necessary.. at about 4pm I light the fire and that maintains us until about an hour before the Children go to bed, then I turn the heat back on.....

Our utilities in Winter are seriously lower than Summer ~ hoping that continues with the crazy hike in costs!!!

We don't do even billing either. I prefer to see/pay for the bill as is, so I know if I need to make adjustments to our usage for the next month. Although now that I'm doing automatic billing, I've been slacking on paying attention to the amount... :?
I was blessed with a birth and a death, and I guess I just want some say in between.
