Here are the candidates and how they performed in Week 1:
Jerry Gates, Middletown: Senior linebacker returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown and had an interception in 48-6 win over Aiken.
Devin King, Monroe: Senior running back rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns in 41-0 win over Meadowdale.
Nick McGill, Carlisle: Junior running back rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns in 20-7 win over Franklin.
