1869 Era Baseball Game

Take a trip back to a time of simplicity and good old fashioned fun with your family. The Monroe Historical Society and the Cincinnati Red Stockings-Cincinnati Buckeyes will be hosting an 1869 Era baseball game along with a day full of games, food, and fun of the Era. The festivities will begin at 11:00 am in the Monroe Community Park on August 8, 2009. The baseball game will begin at 1:00 pm and played with the rules of 1869 baseball...with no baseball gloves! If you are interested in volunteering to play baseball, contact Council Member Tracy Shell who will be coaching the home team at 600-0366. There will also be old fashioned races such as potato sack, three-legged race, etc. with prizes and awards to the winners in several age categories.

Join us for a Great Movie Night Out with the Family!

Monroe is proud to present "Movie at the Park." Head to the Monroe Community Park on August 8th for a day of family fun with the Old Fashioned Baseball Game and festivities, then settle down at dusk for a fun filled movie. The Baseball Association will have the concession stand open during this time and will have hotdogs, drinks, popcorn, and candy. The feature movie will be The Sandlot, Rated "PG", and will be shown by Outdoor Family Movies.
