stupid pc help

Postby ~H*B*G~ » Tue, 22 Sep 2009 20:31:32 GMT

I have always had volume contol at the bottom of my screen. I know it was there this morning, but it's not there now. the pc was shut down unexpectedly when the power went out this morning (we have a 30 minute thingamajiggy, but I was doped up on Nyquil and missed the whole event) How do I get it back?

Best bet for bringing it back I would think would be to go to the control panel and look at the sound options.
Everyone with sleeping problems should teach small children or take care of them all day.

I went to sound in the control panel and I do not see an option for displaying the volume control.

Jeremy, I am Vista :(

Are you talking about in the toolbar at the bottom right? Mine disappears sometimes too (like right now).

If you right click and choose properties under Notification Area there is a section called System icons. Volume is located under there; however, for some reason mine is grayed out and I can't click the checkmark.

I'll let you know if I figure it out.

I read that if Volume is grayed out, try restarting your computer. Will try that in a bit and let you know.

Ok, got it.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete

Start Task Manager

Under processes, End "explorer.exe"

Then go to File, New Task and type in explorer.exe to restart it.
