'Shocking' Security Breaches at Federal Buildings

It only took 27 seconds for him to smuggle live bomb components through security detail in a federal building. Later, he assembled a bomb in the restroom, and then walked around the facility undetected.

There is a Video that shows investigators taking bomb making materials into buildings undetected
In that instance, it was a congressional investigator testing security procedures. But the investigation into the agency charged with protecting federal buildings revealed security gaps that could prove dangerous if a terrorist group or individual focuses an attack on a federal building.

Investigators from the Government Accountability Office, Congress' investigative arm, were able to penetrate all 10 of the undisclosed federal buildings it tested across the United States.

Watch the full report tonight on "World News with Charles Gibson" at 6:30 p.m. ET

"Of the 10 Level IV facilities we penetrated, 8 were government-owned, 2 were leased, and included offices of a U.S. Senator and U.S. Representative, as well as agencies such as the Departments of Homeland Security, State, and Justice," according to a preliminary report from the GAO. Level IV facilities are defined as having more than 450 employees and "a high volume of public contact."

"It's stunning. It's shocking," Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., the chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, told ABC News.

"It just says that basically some people have forgotten the lessons of 9/11," he continued.

**They are saying it only took these men 4 minutes to assemble these bombs once they were inside the buildings. The bombs costing just a few dollars each to make.

Someone also set a baby (in it's carrier) on the belt at one of these buildings, and it went undetected through the x-ray machine

Not only does this appear to happen in gvt buildings.....but it occurs in airports, as well. Very scary stuff.

I'm not sure what is scarier.....the fact that it could happen or that the media is reporting it to the entire population. Some things are better left not said, but fixed.

Security will never be perfect but, it can be and should be improved. The current security, at best stops some kind of"mad" person from doing harm at best. That being said, if someone wanted to do isolated incidence of terror, there is no way to stop them all the time.

In my opinion, the single biggest deterent since 9-11 is the fact that W displayed to the world what will happen to you when you are an accomplice to do harm to America. There was no blinking or saberrattling or idol threats, and you can critique all the what if's and we shouldnt have's and Monday morning quarterback, but the world was put on notice that if you play that game, here is what we are going to do to you!!!!!

Do we still have the same respect and deterent will be told and tested, probably sooner more so than later? :?:

I'm with Kolby and Blueblood.
Some things should go unreported and this is one of them. Why would anyone go public with info on how to get through security, or that it can be done?
We're going to get hit again. It's a matter of time. And Bush (or maybe Palin) will get the blame.
Obama will be sitting somewhere second guessing himself, saying "I thought I appologized to everyone. I must've missed someone and they still hate America. I need to fly around the world again and re-appologize for America's intrusions".
I taught him everything I know and he's still stupid. I don't understand it!!!
