What say you about him shouting "You lie!" during President Obama's address to the joint session of Congress?

He has no respect for the office. I feel that people have no respect for the President. I did not vote for him but you need to show the respect due to the office. We wonder why some children act the way they do.

I disagree.. respect is earned .. not demanded. Respect the office not the office holder until he earns that respect. BTW he has lied so maybe the president should show some respect also. I would not have acted in the why he did even if i felt as he did. I beleive there is a better way of handling it. He did show poor judgement but the issue at hand is and can be very emotional.

Tracy my point was to respect the office not the person. It is the same in the military, you salute the rank not the person. I'm tired of the clowns in office acting like children and throwing tantrums while on public tv. Nothing will ever change in DC because we continue to vote in the same inept people over and over.

I agree, respect the office at a minimum. It's refreshing to hear someone who didn't vote for Obama say they have respect for the office itself. Wilson et. al. need to stop complaining and do their jobs.

Did President Clinton respect the office when he gave Monica the Presidential Seal of Approval?
I taught him everything I know and he's still stupid. I don't understand it!!!

I expect professional decorum from elected officials. That is not too much to expect and the citizens should give the same in return. If you can't control yourself in the house or senate you don't belong.

I agree with Phil at least with things already said by Phil. Not necessarily things he might say in the future or things that might not have been posted on this board. In the case of future comments by Phil the person known as CFG must verify that agreement still exists.

I really don't see the difference between average Joe W saying clearly his thoughts, from the unintellgiable chatter of the entire congressional party saying the same/or much worse under the cover of unsynchronized bemoaning that has gone on unrelenting by both parties forever!!

The fact that this statement by a lone "lowly representative" seemingly is a rallying cry would seem to contradict all logic based on the namecalling done by the most elite Senate members of the accusing party.

This is nothing more than a manufactured distraction to pass bad legislature.

IMO, Representative Wilson disgraced his office with the outburst.

If he has a legitimate accusation to make, then he should make it at the proper time and place.

Further, I don't care a whit if he's censured or not. He said it, he's apologized. Let's move on.

(IMO)To call out in such a manner negates the decorum appropriate for such a position. A position which was bestowed upon Representative Wilson by his constituents.... when you speak on behalf of many, one would assume a level of professionalism and restraint.

Apology accepted ? I would suggest that he might have done himself a great disservice with regards to his reputation, there seemingly are many who found his outburst difficult to overlook.

And move on we don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For now the race card has been played and anyone from hence point forward will be considered as such for criticizing the President. (Only applies to Obama) I guess Ralm meant it when he said " never let a crisis go to waste" Makes no different that this party that is now "appalled" called Bush a liar, a Nazi, a criminal, and too many more to name.

We travelled down to Nashville over the weekend and therefore had the radio on for the most of the journey..... I listened to all the commentary on this subject and frankly was appalled.

My comments (above) were addressing the nature of the outburst, I still maintain that it wasn't the best way to handle the situation, HOWEVER, as BB has mentioned, the name calling and application of racial comments are beyond understanding.

A comment was made (radio) that if it is deemed 'okay' for the Democrats to hoot, applaud and cheer, then it should be equally acceptable for the Republicans to speak up and out also (or visa versa)

I cannot see this issue going anywhere at this time, especially after the insane comments made by former President Carter:
ATLANTA - Former President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst to President Barack Obama during a speech to Congress last week was an act "based on racism" and rooted in fears of a black president.

"I think it's based on racism," Carter said in response to an audience question at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta. "There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president."

The Georgia Democrat said the outburst was a part of a disturbing trend directed at the president that has included demonstrators equating Obama to Nazi leaders.

"Those kind of things are not just casual outcomes of a sincere debate on whether we should have a national program on health care," he said. "It's deeper than that."

Wilson, a South Carolina Republican, was formally rebuked Tuesday in a House vote for shouting "You lie!" during Obama's speech to Congress last Wednesday.

The shout came after the president commented that illegal aliens would be ineligible for federal subsidies to buy health insurance. Republicans expressed their disbelief with sounds of disapproval, punctuated by Wilson's outburst.
