I know there were some who followed the trial in detail. Personally, I am unsure whether I think the home experiments warrant a retrial, I guess it would depend on whether the influence affected the outcome of Jury decision. I didn't watch the trial so don't know all of the details. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today Warren County prosecutors are expected to file their final arguments about why they believe Ryan Widmer should not get a new trial for the murder of his wife.
Widmer was convicted in April of drowning his wife Sarah in their Hamilton Township bathtub last August.
The main issue for the defense is the apparent home experiments done by some of the jury members. Several jurors came forward and said they were impacted by home experiments by other jurors, where they timed how long it took to dry after getting out of a bath or shower.
Widmer's attorney calls the home experiments "manufactured evidence". In previous filings, the prosecution has said these weren't experiments, just "casual observations". The prosecutor also says the jury convicted Widmer on other evidence.
No word on when the judge might make his decision
