Official: No Ukrainian adoption for Elton John

I am surprised that these reasons would be offered to decline the adoption process. I do not believe (personally) that you have to be a certain gender, married or age (within reason) to be a 'good' Parent. Were this adoption to go through, regardless of Elton John's age, his partner is a good bit younger and should be equally as pertinent to the process.

Not sure of the age requirements for both Foster and Adoptive Parents, but think that there are possibly some limitations (here and internationally) which frequently baffles me. If one can offer a loving nurturing Home, prepare for and accommodate a child, consideration should be available..... heavens, we ourselves have seen examples of foster Parents who were there for the paycheck not the Child and yet 'presumably' they are better suited than a person a wee bit older......

Take an evaluation of the Person ~ I know, that would be an endeavor, but the Children are worth it!

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) - Elton John won't be able to adopt a 14-month-old HIV-positive child from Ukraine because the pop star is too old and isn't married, the government said Monday.

Adoption and gay rights advocates expressed regret about the determination by Family, Youth and Sports Minister Yuriy Pavlenko, while a children's charity had reservations about John's weekend announcement that he and his male partner, David Furnish, wanted to adopt the boy.

John announced his desire after meeting the boy, named Lev, while touring an orphanage Saturday as part of an anti-AIDS charity project.

"I don't know how we do that, but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David's heart and it would be wonderful if we can have a home," John said.
