Need a new cell phone

Postby catnipandcarrots » Wed, 08 Jul 2009 14:44:00 GMT

My current phone which I adore, is taking to frequent sudden deaths. It will be completely charged and then it gets very hot and kaput. As this is my business lifeline I suppose I have to get a new one. This phone is solid stainless steel and very thin - I love it! I'm with Verizon in California and am not on a contract at this time.

Any thoughts? I don't email or do anything web-based (though that would have been nice during the week long power outage last September). I simply make calls and occassionally take photos and videos. (animals of course!) Bluetooth a must, though I don't understand it. When the car starts ringing and not my phone, it really freaks me out! I need something small I can carry in my pocket.

Have you tried replacing the battery? It sounds more like that is your issue as opposed to the phone. If you like the phone, I would try that before going through the process of researching a new phone.

I thought of that but the phone is almost 2 yrs old and the camera has gotten fuzzy, too.

If you have been with Verizon you can always look online at the verizon wireless website for a new phone. Most stores do not carry a large number of the "simpler" phones. I know that I had to pay extra to get a phone that didn't have a camera a few years ago when I went into the store. My wife and I have had a great deal of luck with LG phones. We recently upgraded to new phones and my wife wants to go back to her old LG. If you cannot get a new phone through their website I would suggest checking around. There are always some good deals if you can find them.

I prefer LG, too. The one that is dying is the LG VX8700 and the sound quality was excellant.

I've checked out Verizon online and there are so many choices, I can't make up my mind.

LG has definitely created some of the better phones. The quality is much better than Motorola and the other competition....based on the phones that I have used.

CFG - very nice picture of your cat.

I am currently using the lg 9100 - the env2 phone. I like the ease of use and it is a nice keyboard for texting. They can be had for about 49.00 but if you have not had a new phone in two years you may be eligble for a free one.

Debbie likes hers also.

LG is definitely my favorite.

If you don't have an online login for Verizon, create one and you can see exactly what your options are and compare them.

I have the EnV and really like it. Usually I'm waiting for my 2 years to be up so I can get a new one, but with this one I don't care - I don't really want a new one!

C&C, I have the latest EnV 3. I like it. Have had minimal trouble with the signal (we are in just enough of a valley it can cause cell issues) The earpiece volume is great. I just prefer a flipstyle.
