Missions week - Donation of non perishables

Postby Mrs. Blueblood » Sat, 11 Jul 2009 23:34:01 GMT

Hello
Four Corners Church is performing community service this week. If you have a youth (12 yr or older) and/or adult that would like to participate, it is an awesome opportunity.

Monday/Tuesday - Dream Center in Middletown - helping serve free lunches to kids and doing songs, crafts, etc. Most of these kids want a lot of loving. You might have a little one on each leg for most of the day. 9:00 - 1:00

Wed/Thurs - Swan House Womens Center in Cincinnati .

Contact me through email if you have an interest.

In addition, we are asking for donations of non perishables to make sack lunches for these kids so they have lunch on the weekend. Many of these kids only have lunch during the week, when it is free. Also, you can not buy toiletries on food stamps so we are also asking for bathroom items (shampoo, soap, toilet paper)

If you would like to donate non perishables that we can use in sack lunches for needy kids (or toiletries) , we will be collecting Sun - Wed this week at Four Corners Church, 6933 Hendrickson Road or you can contact me through email and we can arrange a pick up.

Sent you a PM. Would love to help! I'd also be happy to use my home as a drop location and deliver to the church.

Good Morning!
The weekend lunches will go to the kids that go to the Luella Thompson Dream Center for the week day free lunch. Those are typically kids from the Middletown area. Most of them walk to the Center. The Center is located in Middletown on Yankee to the right off of Verity/Rte 4. They do have a web site http://www.dreamcenter-middletown.com/WhatWeOffer.html

Our youth go every summer and help serve lunch, take crafts and teach songs, etc. These kids want love so much. They are usually hanging on your leg just wanting some loving. We have been told some of them don't eat lunch on the weekend as their families dint have it. So we thought we would make them up weekend sack lunches. Examples: juice box, mac and cheese single servings, cups of fruit, single tuna, pack of cheese crackers, whatever you can think of that is non perishable and can go in a sack lunch. In addition we know food stamps does not cover toiletries so we thought we would take toilet paper, shampoos, etc.

We had not thought of pet food but that is a great idea. We would maybe need to put a little note on it so they know it is intended for their pet.

the DREAM Center offers the following ...
http://www.dreamcenter-middletown.com/WhatWeOffer.html

•Food to the sick & shut-ins
•Clothing (limited supply)
•Food to the Senior Citizens (every 4th Saturday)
•Hot meals to our walk-in center (for the homeless & needy)
•An encouraging smile & prayer

:P
