This summer I got into audio books and am amazed at how much faster I get through books this way! I have an audio recording for the car and a hard copy for the house both of which I pick up at the library. I get through 50 pages a day just driving all the places I need to go. Even the kids enjoy listening to a book in the car and I can't believe how fast we're getting through Harry Potter (book 4) by listening in the car and reading at night. I'm glad I discovered this! I also have it going at home sometimes. It's been nice to listen to while I pack.
First I "read" "Great Expectations". Great book! I'd forgotten how much I loved that one. Now I'm reading "Roots". That book is so hard to get through. It's very, very heavy. I have really enjoyed the voice of the reader for both Great Expectations and Roots, but am having a hard time with Harry Potter! He's great for the male voices and I love his interpretation of Professor McGonagal, but Hermione is just dreadful! The kids and I just roll our eyes and chuckled every time he does her voice.
...and yes...I'm a nerd.
