Home Depot is open !

Postby Bob Kelley » Wed, 19 Aug 2009 15:00:57 GMT

This morning I attended the opening of the new Home Depot Regional Distribution Center. They open facilities with a board cutting ceremony, it's a huge site and as of today they are moving freight in and out.

At capacity they are expected to employ 800 people, as of the opening today they have better than 200. I saw many familiar faces there today, residents who have found employment with the Home Depot.

One of the foundation core rules governing their business is to give back the the communities they are part of and the Sr, Vice President challenged us today to hold them to that standard. I sense the start of a great relationship between the Home Depot and the community and hope as they prove that, you give them the chance to make you a customer at one of their retail outlets.

This is just a distribution location right? Meaning you cant place a large order and go there to receive it. All in all still sounds great!

How about a request they donate some building materials for a library or an animal holding facility/shelter? I'm glad they are finally up and running and hope they one day can reach the 800 employees. Just give the economy time to rebuild and home equity a change to start increasing....

There have been conversations in the works already wit hthe city on projects they can help with. Bob has been a big help in getting the lines of communication going with parties involved.

If you have some detailed ideas on projects you would like ot see please email the council or Brad, Director of Public works

I truly feel I picked a great time to move to Monroe (barring the traffic). First the outlet mall, then the distribution center, maybe a new solar plant in the area, and the possibility of some new places to eat without having to travel far.
Everyone with sleeping problems should teach small children or take care of them all day.
