Either way to have a 5 year old playing around in an area with a pitbull is reckless at best - If the Child was able to open the cage it wasn't secure enough to begin with
Thoughts and prayers for this little girl.

(WKRC report:)
Hamilton Police tell our partners at the Journal News that the parents of a five year old girl mauled by a pit bull could face charges.
Payton Tunstall was playing in the backyard of her father's house in the 400 block of Knightsbridge Drive at around 11:25 a.m. Monday when the attack occurred. Police say the pit bull got loose from a case and bit the girl on the head, face, legs and arms. She was taken to Air Care to Children's Hospital. At the time, police described her wounds as "very serious".
The dog also attacked Payton's mother, who was the only adult at the home. A 911 call, obtained by Local 12, is made by a man who says the dog was "let out of its cage" and that the dog was still attacking the young girl in the backyard. The caller is heard saying, "This has been going on for about five minutes and they can't get him off of her... He's on her right now. Can you please send somebody right now?"
The dog was taken by the Butler County Dog Warden and is at the Animal Friends Humane Society in Trenton, where it may be euthanized.
Hamilton has a city ordinance which classifies a pit bull as a "vicious dog." Residents are allowed to keep such dogs as pets, but they must be confined in secure enclosures.
Police say their investigation continues.
