Kolby, I couldn't agree more !
My 12 year old does not have the same restrictions as her 8 year old brother, but, even her walkabouts are monitored and only permission given is from our Home to her Girlfriends house or back garden (all with 15 minute check in's with me via phone)
My Son was permitted for the
first time to venture up to his friend's House (2 doors away) BUT with instructions!! I watched him walk away and straight into their garage (where I could no longer see him

) I immediately called the Parents and suffice to say it will be quite a while before he is given any such freedoms! (He is now
FULLY aware of his lack of judgement, even if it was only momentarily.)
It only takes a moment..... For the most part, those willing to approach Children already have an intent in mind.... Keep those babies close and talk to them ( we use role play - it's fun and informative!)
These are my personal opinions, I do not judge or care to condemn anyone who feels differently... I care only about the safety and welbeing of my Children......
