Bow Hunters May Be Allowed in City Parks

I am not a fan of hunting at all, but find bow hunting rather less desirable than other forms.... The stipulation :
Hunters would have to be licensed and be able to hit four out of five arrows inside a 10 inch circle.

does not seam quite accurate enough for me .... the target isn't moving!!

The City of Cincinnati is considering a plan to allow bow hunters to thin the herd of deer inside city parks. Parks officials say the deer destroy their habitat if their numbers grow too large and they're looking for an inexpensive and safe way to lower deer numbers.

City council would have to approve the plan and so far, there is no word on which parks hunters may be allowed to use.

Some residents have safety concerns. Janet Meyer's plants have been eaten by deer but she still likes seeing them. "I see them when I ride my horses, it's beautiful."

Meyer lives with her 92 year old uncle in a house near Mount Airy forest. Neither like bow hunting and don't think the deer are doing enough damage to warrant hunting.

But park officials disagree. They want to keep the numbers at no more than 20 deer per square mile.

Hunters have been allowed at wildlife preserves for several years and police sharpshooters have been helping out by hunting some deer. But bow hunting, they say, is safer because the hunter must be about 25 feet from the animal, and it's also less expensive.

Park officials would cordon off areas of park where hunting is going on. Hunters would have to be licensed and be able to hit four out of five arrows inside a 10 inch circle.

In lands beyond the sea:
Nor England! Did I know till then
What love I bore to thee."
