Book buzz: What's new on the list and in publishing

Even though it was released in mid-September, Dan Brown's hotly anticipated novel The Lost Symbol was the top-selling book of the third quarter (July 1 through Sept. 30), according to USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list. But Stephenie Meyer's Twilight novels continued to dominate the top 10. It is the fifth straight quarter the four books in the series have been in the top 10.
