"I traveled among unknown men,
In lands beyond the sea:
Nor England! Did I know till then
What love I bore to thee."

Then again, I would put nothing past Sir Elton :P

Elton has always been flashy but maybe he has mellowed in his old age. I saw him at the Coliseum in the 70's playing a chrome grand piano with color organs built into the sides that changed colors, drinking Little Kings very heavily. He, Nigel and the boys were great. :)

as is par the course, lyrics by Bernie Taupin...they certainly were a phenomenal duo...

Hey kids, shake it loose together
The spotlight's hitting something
That's been known to change the weather
We'll kill the fatted calf tonight
So stick around
You're gonna hear electric music
Solid walls of sound
chorus
Say, Candy and Ronnie, have you seen them yet
But they're so spaced out, B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Oh but they're weird and they're wonderful
Oh Bennie she's really keen
She's got electric boots a mohair suit
You know I read it in a magazine
B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Hey kids, plug into the faithless
Maybe they're blinded
But Bennie makes them ageless
We shall survive, let us take ourselves along
Where we fight our parents out in the streets
To find who's right and who's wrong

I think one of our crowning moments and a highpoint in history of America and the world, had to be the liberation of Kuwait. The cresendo that was the war occured on a Saturday night in February 1991 when ground forces went "over the top" blasting through a weakened defense from an unrelenting bombing campaign. At the exact time they moved forward in secrecy, Armed Forces Radio gave the only hint of what was happening as they blared this song to the world.

Saturday Night’s All Right For Fighting

It's getting late have you seen my mates
Ma tell me when the boys get here
It's seven o'clock and I want to rock
Want to get a belly full of beer
My old man's drunker than a barrel full of monkeys
And my old lady she don't care
My sister looks cute in her braces and boots
A handful of grease in her hair
chorus
Don't give us none of your aggravation
We had it with your discipline
Saturday night's alright for fighting
Get a little action in

Get about as oiled as a diesel train
Gonna set this dance alight
'Cause Saturday night's the night I like
Saturday night's alright, alright, alright
Well they're packed pretty tight in here tonight
I'm looking for a dolly who'll see me right
I may use a little muscle to get what I need
I may sink a little drink and shout out "She's with me!"
A couple of the sound that I really like
Are the sounds of a switchblade and a motorbike
I'm a juvenile product of the working class
Whose best friend floats in the bottom of a glass
