7th grade class schedule

Postby Mrs. Blueblood » Thu, 02 Jul 2009 10:48:54 GMT

Did all the upcoming 7th graders receive their class schedule yesterday?
very exciting.

There was a flyer in the packet on a study skills class they are offering for incoming 7th graders. Might be a good time to get them aclimated. They will get their locker combo, planner, etc. Also have some run throughs of changing classes. Big changes for the kids.

I am disappointed that so far (2 kids) we have never gotten into the classes we have requested.

Also interesting that Monroe no longer offers advanced English for Jr High.

Included in the packet are the 6th grade test scores. I was surprised. Above avg on Math - had to be a mix up!

Oh My!!!! Can you say 'crushed!'

We also got the class schedule ..... Bit of a story here ...

Prior to year end, my Daughter's band Teacher sent home a note suggesting that lil lady take concert band - which she did (she plays flute and piano and loves both) Her second choice was Art (art is her passion in life!!)
I can't recall the next two choices off hand.... Anywho, her schedule does have band, but instead of Art has PE /Health - I didn't know if they were mandatory classes, but she seams to not think so. In a word, it would be preferable to continuously poke her with a sharp stick at this point... devastated!!

She 'claims' that her Teacher did admit that he was late handing in paperwork, thus not being able to ensure his Students got into their preferred classes...I'm not sure so would leave that as a claim rather than an actuality ;-)

When you say 'advanced English' are you referring to Alps? I also noted that there wasn't an Alps class mentioned even though we were told lil lady would be in Alps for English and Math...... We have seen before (previous years) where the Alps class wasn't mentioned until School actually started, however, not sure at this point...

I got the class schedule and the test scores - no flyer :-(

I advised her that we will look into the class schedule and see if we can't change them - in truth, if you knew my Child you would appreciate that PE/Health is about the worst class one could choose...I do feel badly for her !

yes, ours are two peas in a pod!

Mine got 2 semesters of PE as well and she does not like it one bit!
She also selected all courses avail over this one.
Art would be the right one for her with Choir.

there are 2 newsletter/flyers

one is MJH study skills workshop

the other was MJH July/August newsletter - this is the one that talks about offering changes and states they implemented a balanced literacy framework for language arts so they no longer have an advanced and general session but one mixed ability level classroom. This also had the orientation, upcoming dates for Aug/Sept.

If you dont have these i would be glad to bring a copy to Ellies next time we are there for voice lessons.

Mine is pretty happy with the schedule she got. Even the PE, which surprised me. I'm pretty sure PE is required both semesters but she likes being active so I guess it's no big deal for her.
I taught him everything I know and he's still stupid. I don't understand it!!!

From what I remember, my daughter had PE every day of 7th, 8th, 9th, & 10th grade.

I have a call in to find out if the kids only get 1 "elective" and if P.E. is required.
The electives may be choir, band or Art.

I did RSVP for the Study Skills/Orientation. My 7th gader probably will be appalled! Sge knows everything! She wouldnt need that. and it is a very early start time.

Gotta love your Mother!
