We got ours failry quickly (within two weeks), but it was an off period. Somewhere on their website, it provides the current wait time.

Basically, get your picture taken at CVS, Walgreens, Office Depot, or a million other places.....take it to the Post Office and fill out a form. You'll need a certified copy of your birth certificate (of which they keep and mail back to you) and a government issued photo ID. And of course paying the fee.

I didn't look at Kolby's link (sorry) but will say that the photo's are quite specific...... We went to a place in West Chester (it was across the street from Kroger in Beckett Ridge) that was very quick to go through (no waits etc.,) took the appropriate photo's and had all the passport paperwork at hand.

Ensure that you are allowing a good while before travel as occasionally it takes a while to get your passports back to you, without paying for expedited service.

Are you vacationing Mr. Kelley - please share details :D

We went on our honeymoon cruise this past November to the Western Caribbean. It was amazing. We can't wait until our next cruise. 8)

All Americans traveling by air outside of the United States are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States. This requirement will be extended to sea travel (except closed-loop cruises), including ferry service, by the summer of 2009. Until then, U.S. citizens traveling by sea must have government-issued photo identification and a document showing their U.S. citizenship (for example, a birth certificate or certificate of nationalization), or other Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document such as a passport card for entry or re-entry to the U.S. Sea travelers should also check with their cruise line and countries of destination for any foreign entry requirements.

The only 'cruise' I've been on was a ferryliner from Hull to Belgium (I think it may have been zeebruge) It was an overnight ferry (surprisingly as the distance is very short) it was VVVVVVVVV cold - Leaving England to arrive in Bruges in January brrrrrr - BUT, was a very economical way to travel to Belgium (note: at the time the Chunnel was non existent , other than a flight, it would have been travel to France / Germany then road to Belgium.)

Anyway, that is the extent of my Cruising experience thus far

When they ask "What is the reason for travel?"

DO NOT tell them Internation Pirate School, it will seriously delay receiving your passport.

Whilst living on US Instillation we had to carry Instillation passes.
All the MP's patrolling, knew who I was... I had left post to go to the post office. Upon returning, I walked through the gates they asked to see my ID ..(which I didn't have with me) ..Flippantly, I told them that it was back in my room along with my collection of Semtex..... BIG MISTAKE.... I realised this when the MP van pulled up alongside me and carried me to the Station.... The 'booking officer' later became my Husband LOL

I have SO learned that unless you tell the truth be prepared for the consequences ...(some of which, last a lifetime  )

YEARS ago (way before 9/11) my bff and I were waiting to go thru security with a friend who was flying home. (oh how I miss the days of watching the planes take off!) My numnuts friend was getting inpatient while they searched our friends purse and she stupidly asked "you looking for a gun in there, or what?" In seconds flat security was all over my friend - guns drawn. She got nothing more than a stern talking to for saying the g-word but I about DIED of embarrassment. Now Every single time we are in an airport she brings up that story. She talks kinda loud which doesn't help and sadly she will never learn it wasn't a joke.

At least Patey got a husband out of her story. All I got was chest pains and a red face!
