Because we recognize that people facing foreclosure are often desperate as well as discouraged, we want to caution against turning to "rescue" firms that promise to stop foreclosures for a fee. They want to help. But you must reach out to them. When you do, have all the information related to your situation at your fingertips, including letters from your mortgage lender, any deadlines that may have been set, and any documents you may have received from a court.
