I have lived in Monroe for two years (transplant from west central Indiana) and am ashamed to admit I have not tried eating at the local places. Has anyone eaten at any? any recommendations?

I have not been to Tasty Creations yet. I have heard it is good. I too am ashamed as this has been here for what 2 years now....keep thinking if i would just try it, i might become a regular. Has anyone tried it?

Have not been to the Red Onion for a while either, but it was good when i went. it is small.

We went to Barn and Bunk in Trenton Sunday for their Buffet and it was good. Has anyone else tried it?

We typically are going out after Church events with a larger group so end up at Applebees or Frisches or Wendys. Typically either a Sunday or Wednesday.

I have eaten at Tasty creations and it's wonderful BTW if you follow the link you can see the menu - I highly recommend them.

Red Onion - I have yet to eat there, everyone raves about it....

Brandywine Inn - We celebrated an anniversary there - great food ! a little pricey (we had taken the Children, they do not have a Children's menu) but wonderful to say that we were eating in a quaint little place in Monroe.

I didn't know that there was a place to eat at Barn n Bunk - we were thinking of going there within the next few weeks so I'll try it out !

Barn and Bunk

They only serve on Sunday. They just started this in April and it appears to be successful for them.

Let me know if you try it.

Red Onion - Fabulous food. Can get a little pricey for a bar/eatery. I usually don't mind paying some extra for "environment", but there really isn't one here. It is very small and often has a bar atmosphere. This is a great lunch place though.

Tasty Creations - Very good lunch menu. I have tried many different sandwiches and have not had a bad one yet. We have not attempted their dinner menu yet, but hope to some day.

Buffalo Wings and Rings - Good burgers, good wings, very good chicken quesadilla, the absolute slowest service I have ever seen in a wings place. Even when they are not busy, the service is extremely slow.

We love Buffalo Wings and Rings! We usually call ahead and pick it up. We haven't had any trouble with their service. We usually get the gyros, and they're wonderful! I have been disappointed with their potato chips though. I think they are overcooked, but my husband loves them.

I have also enjoyed the Gyro's !!! The wings were so 'saucy' that I had a hard time with that - too picky:) We have only ever called and picked up, haven't eaten inside as yet - I was under the impression that it was a bit of a sports bar type of place, I don't really want to take the Children into that type of atmosphere (that is only an assumption, I could well be quite wrong)

We have eaten in many times - with children. I think it varies as to when you are there on the atmosphere. We have never felt like we were in a bar. Of course we have never gone on a weekend evening either, it may be very different then.

We now do the takeout much more than eating in though. This is completely because of the slow service, not the atmosphere.

The Red Onion is indeed very good. If your kids have long legs (the seating is rather high), they'll enjoy it too. A children's menu isn't available, but the fare is casual enough (sandwiches and burgers are available, as well as nicer entrees) that there should be something for them.

We have yet to get to the Brandywine, but one of these days...

I can now add myself to a Red Onion customer....

We went a few weeks ago, I had the peppercorn steak - IT WAS DIVINE!!!! Children had burgers and my DH had another 'special' (I think it was a shrimp dish ??)

I would definitely go back - if I had anything to say and it may have been the time we went, but the wait was rather long - standing in a wee spot in the corner... but in light of the fact that I so enjoyed the food I would go back maybe just at a better time
