I had a hankerin' to make a southern style dinner of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and lima beans.

What a joke! I obviously cannot make these things, especially at 8pm on a Sunday night. (we finally sat down at 9:45p) The chicken was a bit greasy and not as crispy as I had imagined. The potatoes were not as lumpy as I prefer and the lima beans ended up burnt. The gravy was good, though :shock:

. Very good but I had no idea it cooked in a matter of seconds! My kitchen is going to take a week to clean.

My bff is a county cook and I called and asked her what to do before I started. This was her answer. I should have listened.

1. Go to ATM machine
2. Take out $20
3. Go to KFC and buy a bucket of chicken and assorted sides. Ask for paper plates.
4. Go home and eat
5. When finished, throw everything in the trash.

You know it would have been wonderful if you weren't 'hankering' for it ... :wink:

I don't 'fry' anything anymore - I can't handle the smell or clean up besides all else have found comparable recipes for everything I love with the bonus that it's 'oven fried' ~ always a good option !!

But I do have to admit, if it really is fried chicken that you're looking for KFC will take care of the 'yummy's'

I have a fantastic southern style cookbook - I'll have to look up a few recipes for posting :-)
