The city has a system to alert the residence of a various number of alerts. this system will call the number you sign up for and send you an alert.

I looked at this before... was rather dubious as to where my information would/could be displayed....

I researched and found it to be a secure system and signed up...

it was used the first time during the winter about the snow emergency. If think you should have been called please either check the site or call the city.

Tracy at that time I was not signed up for it. Has it been used any since?

Tracy, is this service only available to Monroe residents? What about Lemon township residents that are surrounded by Monroe?

Tracy - who at the city can I speak to about code red? What if we need to change an email or phone number?

Would the information provided by this system be the same as the information provided via email?

ADH, the code red system allows the City to target specific areas with information. For example if there was a water main break, we could alert all the houses in a specific area before all the door hangers were installed. The Code red system also allows the police department to send specific information to some or all residents in real time in the event of an emergency.

Can you think of a good reason not to sign up?

I did consider the necessity ..... but then reviewed the system (and comparable ones in other areas) I believe your post above (Bob) does point out a certain use, a valuable one if you are in the affected zone, but also understand ADH point ....

The email system is invaluable, but for on the spot alerts, the code red system would seam far more effective.

I 'usually' am signed into email, however, not always (especially when on the laptop) I might not see an email alert, however would acknowledge a phone call.

Just my opinion
