That was my interpretation, I'm not trying to speak on his behalf....... I hope that Todd (and anyone else running) are open to posting their opinions, thoughts and feelings. It would be advantageous for those who are not familiar with them personally, to make decisions when it comes to election day.

1. What is your vision for Monroe?

2. Where do you want to see us in 1 year, 5 years, 15 years, and 30 years (next generation)?

3. What specific projects would you like to see developed and implemented in the city?

4. Name your top 3 priority’s for the city.

5. If elected, what do you want to accomplish as a Councilperson in the next 4 years?

6. What are your views on our Fiscal Spending? Are we spending too much, too little, allocating funds in the right or wrong areas? What would you change?

7. Do you feel Monroe needs any charter or ordinance/resolution changes?

8. What are your thoughts on the SunCoke lawsuit? Should we continue fighting?

9. Do you feel we should work to repair ties with the Middletown Chamber of Commerce?

10. How do you feel about the opinions that Monroe is cutting themselves off from the rest of Butler County and getting too “uppity” or insular (for lack of a better word)?

11. What are your thoughts on merging the remaining portions of Lemon Twp into the city of Monroe? What do you see would be the advantages/disadvantages?

12. In the use of eminent domain for future business development, do you feel the deliberations of City Council should be more transparent?

13. What are your thoughts on the best way to communicate with Council?

14. What are your thoughts on developing a Monroe Cable channel (such as Middletown, Franklin, Lebanon, etc) and having broadcasts of Council meetings, school board, local events, bulletin board, etc? What about audio only, like the school board?

15. Do you regularly attend Council meetings? Town Halls meetings? School Board? Are you a member of any Council or Community Committees? Do you have any prior public service experience?

16. What civic groups are you a member? Support (if not a member)?

17. What relevant experience do you bring to the job that will make you a suitable member of city council? If an incumbent, what can you do to improve on your current performance?

18. What candidates would you endorse and why?

Why file a petition to run for city government if you have no opinion or don't want your thoughts and ideas heard? Is to simply boost a resume? The pay is certainly lousy but then again the benefits may be worth it.

So do we as voters not vote which affects nothing? Or do we vote for the inexperienced just to unseat the current members? Or do we vote in the also silent incumbents? Why vote at all?

I'm hoping at least 3 candidates will step up so my vote isn't wasted. I want the best for Monroe and expect no less from those seeking election.

Hmm, I wonder how many days it will be before someone will answer any of C&C questions? What is the over/under?

Re: Q&A's for our City Council

Postby Steve Tannreuther » Wed, 14 Oct 2009 14:30:56 GMT

I only became aware recently of these questions, so I thought I would try respond

Have been a resident of most of my life
Married for 33 years and have 2 grown children
Have been on council for 8 years and been vice-mayor for 4 years
Been active in youth sports for 22 years. Football/baseball and soccer(which I admit I knew nothing about)
Started the Wee Hornet Football program
Past member and president of the monroe park board
Headed up with my wife Monroe City Fest for 4 years

When I first was elected to city council we became aware that financially' every thing at the city was not as presented. We as council then acted immediately and put in spending cuts ond controls that were painful to the city but had to be done. We got rid of our city manager and financial person, and hired Bill Brock to take control and with Bill and council we were able to come out of faster that the state said we would and in good financial shape. We have stayed in good shape through good sound controlled spending. We continue to operate with these same controls in place.

On the Sun Coke issue, I can not answer specific questions but I will say that I fully support the stance that the city has taken on this issue. I think that the health and safety of our citizens is most important. Yes I am concerned about the amount of money that is being spent on this, but I believe it is a stance we must take

On fiscal spending, as stated before I think we as council is being smart with your money. My biggest concern is for the year2010. It is projected that our tax revenue will be down some. How much is an unkown We must be aware of every penny spent and stay within our budget.

As far as what I would like to accomplish in my next 4 years if elected. I would like to see the city attract some higher paying jobs to the city. The Outlet Mall and Home Depot is great for the city as far as jobs, taxes, etc but I would like to see us obtain some higher paying jobs for our area. I would also like to see some sort of community college branch come to our area. And also some nice sit-down places to eat. We have enough fast food.

As far as how to communicate with council,I personally prefer the old fashion way, face to face or by telephone.

I also personally would like to see the ties between Middletown an us improve. We are neighbors, our lands touch and development will only benifit both communities

I know that this only answered a few of the questions, but you can contact me at any time on my cell or at home.Remember, know matter who you vote for, just be sure and vote

If there is concern for the 2010 budget, how does Suncoke and the attorney expenditures fit in? Are we using "rainy day fund" money for this, or was it taken from another budgeted place?

To answer your question, money for the Sun Coke fight was taken out of the "rainy day fund" These expenses to date I believe to be aprox. $400,000.00 todate. 2010 budget is now being worked on, so there will be more to come on this. We believe that the 2010 Budget will be aprox $1,000,000.00 less than 2009.
