No issues, the mall users as a whole have seen an increase in business in this economy. The last report I saw indicated business was up. I don't have the information handy but if memory serves it was in the range of 8-15%. Many want to see Monroe fail, many don't understand the strategy so they condemn it. The thought process behind the interchange development is to bring "regional" draws to bring people from all over so as residents you can have conveniences that do not rely on resident population to support them.
That mall is not being built just to service Monroe, based on population Monroe would never get a project like that and it would be destine to fail if they got one. The Home Depot project is a regional distribution center, out parcels around the mall will be slated for regional draws or business that will flourish around an exit ramp.
I would not be too concerned with rumors of failure before it's even open. The tenants listed have all been pulling permits to complete their interior finish at a high rate. Our planning and zoning department along with NIC are working extra hours to insure we are doing everything in our power to help these businesses be up and running by August 6th, Opening Day for the Cincinnati Premium Outlets of Monroe, Ohio......
