I think it’s safe to say that July 4th and 5th, 2008 was a weekend that Monroe will be talking about for quite some time. We have some fantastic surprises lined up for the community and this year’s “Light Up the Sky” festival is one that won’t be soon forgotten.

If you enjoyed last year’s fireworks; wait until you see what we have in store for you this year. It’s bigger, it’s better, and it’s the culmination of a year’s meticulous planning that will leave you breathless!

We have some incredible bands lined up to keep the park hopping the entire event. We have been working secure some of the very best and most popular bands for you.

This year’s event is currently planned as a full day event. We hope to have entertainment lined up that will please young and old alike – more fun & exciting rides and games for the kids, a fabulous car show, pie baking contest, corn hole tournaments, sack races, watermelon seed spitting contest and our annual Little Mr. & Miss Red, White & Boom Pageant… this year’s event is one that you cannot miss out on.

We know that Monroe is where you choose to call home. We also know that this event is one that you will want to take part in. We’re hoping that you’re all as excited as we are and would like to help us make this event a success. You can do this by volunteering your time, sponsoring an event, or by your donations. We are working hard to ensure that we give back to Monroe what this city has given to all of us.

Yes I do the updates, I have not been given anything. I can't tell you anything that's going to happen as I am not involved at all in any of the planning.

Bob,
I'm not busting your Arse here. This is just plain bad business though. (Not on your part) If your heading up a City function the first thing I would expect is to get the news out. Way ahead of time.
Is Mark the one I need to get in touch with?

Correct me if I am wrong; These phone numbers are about as bogus as the song was in the 80's. Unbelievable this was not caught before.

Thanks alot Beas - I've had that dang Tommy Tutone thing in my head all night!!!

Anyone see the big article about the car show and fireworks in Middletown this year? That's where I'm headed after the parade. I can't commit to Monroe cause no one will tell us anything! We were interested in having a booth but the parade in the middle of the day/event is a bummer.

28 days and counting!
