I ask you to support the City of Monroe!

Postby ursosju25 » Thu, 25 Jun 2009 14:18:04 GMT

Good afternoon! I am on here today to speak about a post on Main Street Monroe.

Part 1: Are we bullies?
We have been accused of being bullies. We are not bullies but when someone has an ego like the owner of Main Street Monroe and likes to basically stir the pot to get a rise out of people and bring people to his site he will do whatever it takes. Posting the Save Butler ad did that and the City Council of Monroe contributed their information to John's site on a regular basis and when that happened the council felt offended because they were not approached by Main Street Monroe to see if Main Street Monroe could run the ad or not. The city has taken allot of bullets for their fight and were just not pleased with the way John went about posting the link on Main Street Monroe. We have stated our case numerous times on Main Street Monroe in a clear professional manner. You want to talk about bullies? Has the owner of Main Street Monroe dealt with the Ohio EPA and even the Federal EPA? SunCoke? AK Steel? How does it feel to be told by the people that we pay our tax dollars to be told you cannot review public records? Region 5 in Chicago sent hundreds of documents to our group and several hundred pages are blank. Why would the EPA do such a thing? The Ohio EPA and Federal EPA does not want you to see that information simply because that will add leverage to our case. Also how do you like being told by Alan McCoy himself that AK Steel will have to shut down if they don't get this plant? Now if that is not being bully then what is? What about the threatened boycott by the Union in Monroe? What about the time Lisa Fry had hundreds of AK business cards thrown on her deck? How about the law suit that have been threatened by AK Steel to certain people within our group? What about SunCoke making fun of the people of Haverhill? I have written evidence that Kelly Graff of Haverhill was made fun of by Cindy Charles. In other words she called her a whiner that needs to get a life. The Portsmouth Air Agency has made fun of those people in Haverhill for their complaints. It is obvious from the videos that were posted and the federal violations against SunCoke that the people of Haverhill have a case and should be respected by the EPA and Suncoke. I myself have never seen in my life ever seen anything like this. Where the big cooperation's like AK Steel and SunCoke are being bullies and blatant liars. They are not trustworthy by the least bit. We have been honest for 16 months and have not told one LIE. So who is more honest? The City of Monroe and SunCoke Watch or the Ohio EPA, Federal EPA, SunCoke, politicians and AK Steel. I think you know the answer. Any common person with a sense would likely side with the honest side and not the side that will blind side you without hesitation. So this concludes part 1 of my counter of Mr. Beagle.

Part 2: Sharing litigation is detrimental to the legal process

Why is council going to share their litigation? I assume they have been told by their attorneys to not talk about the case just like a jury in a trial cannot talk about the case they are hearing about. Any information brought out could have harm on the outcome of the case. I myself know things that I will not put on this site because I feel it could detrimental to our case if brought out in public. The City of Monroe has spent 300k on this fight so far and we will have to spend more on that but when it all set and done. I honestly feel we will win based on the case we have and that money we have spent will be brought back into the city through economic development that we may not of received if the plant was built and also the property taxes that people pay to the city will be much higher. There also other ways we can get our money back but I cannot disclose how that can happen at this time. The streets of Monroe are much better than those in Middletown. We have some very good roads here in Monroe as opposed to the communities around us. One other thing in Toledo, Ohio a small village has fought FDS Coke Plant for nearly 5 years and the latest news is FDS coke may pull out of Toledo because they are beaten down and tired of fighting an opposition similar to ours. The NRDC and Sierra Club have really helped in this battle and the NRDC and Sierra Club will use all their resources down here to make things right. The funny thing is the county may know lend 200k to FDS so they don’t pull out. Their permit up there is actually excellent compared to one down here. FDS sent comments about the SunCoke permit and were upset that SunCoke was getting away with so much and FDS was not able to get away with anything.

This post is very long now so I am going to shut up now but I am open for debate on this one because I honestly feel we are doing the right thing and if you want to learn more visit the SunCoke Watch booth at Light the Sky July 4th.
Thanks for reading!

I am totally relaxed. I debated whether or not to name names but people would know who and what I am talking about anyways. So basically I didn't beat around the bush and just hit the nail on the head. The only time I was harsh was in my opening I think but through knowing him I feel that is the way he is.

Steve unfortunately your correct, while we have pending litigation we cannot discuss the issues openly. You have to ask yourself, are all of the council members intentionally acting in a fashion detrimental to the Cities best interest? You might find an opinion or two once in a while that goes against the main stream but for the most part not one person on council has ever said, " hey lets do this that will really screw things up". Our job is to represent the cities interests and to do the best job we can. There is a ton of information floating around on the internet about the effects of pollution, there are articles of what happens to towns when business is allowed to dictate the standard of living and all of those end badly for the residents of those communities.

There are increasingly more and more wild unsubstantiated allegations being made every day by the pro suncoke team. It does not matter whats true to them, only what sells or gains profit. There are those leaches that want to do no more than find a way to profit from this, they are working diligently to confuse public perception in an attempt to draw attention and profit to themselves. They are not concerned in the least with whats right. I hope that all of you take the time to read what you can find on the issue. I hope all of you can understand we are doing what we feel is in the best interest of the city and it's residents and as long as it's in litigation we cannot release information about it. That does not mean that the SunCoke watch people can't. I would encourage any of you who are unsure whats at stake for the city to visit the SunCoke watch booth at the 4th of July festival and to see for yourself whats at stake.

As to reports that I am a bully or hard headed...well those of you that know me understand I am not intimidated easily if at all....lol and at times I may be a tad hard to deal with. It's my way, it's not perfect but It's always directed in what I believe to be the best interest of the city. I get my feathers ruffled and go off and then I am fine, something you have to learn to do in the business I am in and I know others here understand that completely.

If anyone would like to chat about this or any other issues around the City please feel free to call or look me up. After the parade on the 4th I will be working with Bret Guido (loaner) to raise funds for the HS Choir to purchase new robes. Look me up, enjoy some roasted corn on the cob and enjoy what promises to be a great 4th.

One last note, if you see Mark Bursley, Carmen Carney, Steve Black or Cherie Gentry please take the time to thank them for picking up the mantle of bringing you a great family event. They deserve all the thanks they can get.
Thank you all for the work you have done. :D

Birds of a feather, Bob! Maybe we need some of those gravelly perch covers that automatically trim the claws.
